As soon as I started wearing makeup, my mom stressed the importance of skin care. Especially, taking off your makeup every night before bed and using moisturizer. The combination of hormones and being an athlete, came years of battling atrocious acne. I tried everything and nothing seemed to work long term. In 2019, I found out that I was pregnant. I started researching clean beauty products and found BeautyCounter and Summer Fridays. The combination of the two has transformed my skin and helped me gain the confidence I needed to go makeup free if I want to. Here is my morning skin care routine.
A little disclaimer, I am no beauty expert and just do what works for me. I am a complete newbie in the world of skincare products and all the benefits that they have. However, I do know what your skin does and doesn’t need/like. I have my nutrition degree to thank for that.
Step 1
Wash your face. Use a good cleanser to create a blank canvas for all your products to work there magic on your skin.
Step 2
Prep your skin. I use Countertime Mineral Boost Hydrating Essence from BeautyCounter. This instantly makes me skin feel softer and more hydrated.
Step 3
Serums give you that extra glow. I alternate between the Countertime Tripeptide Radiance Serum and Summer Fridays CC Me Vitamin C Serum.
Step 4
Moisturizer, the best friend for your skin. I use the Countertime Antioxidant Soft Cream and lately have been adding in a 3-4 drops of Lux Unfiltered Tanning Drops.
Step 5
Lip butter balm. I have the worst dry lips and this balm is one of the only products I have found that helps hydrate my lips without coating on layers and layers of chapstick. In the summer, I definitely add extra SPF, because there is nothing worse then sunburnt lips.
After this, I just add my makeup or go about my day. During the summer, I add SPF and try to keep the sun off my face as much as possible. I never realized the importance of sunscreen until the last few years. My entire morning skincare routine takes maybe 3 minutes. That is a tiny fraction of your day, so there shouldn’t be any excuses of why you can’t start the day with a little self care.
What are your go to skincare products?
