Last week, I made the decision to finally stop nursing. It’s been a little over a year and I can’t believe the time has passed by so fast. Today I thought I would share my breastfeeding journey with you all.
First, I never thought I would go this long, and to be honest I am a mix of so many emotions. I am glad to have a bit more freedom and to feel like I have my body back. At the same time, I am so sad to leave that special bond that we have shared for over a year now. All the late nights, when the rest of the world was asleep. My mini getaway from all the tough times. No matter how tired I was, I always loved the connection we shared.
My sister took the picture above when Beckham was only a few weeks old. Not only does it bring back so many memories, but it makes my heart burst at how fast my baby has grown. Now I am finding new ways to bond with my baby boy. The little man who is becoming more and more independent. The little man who melts my heart every time we lock eyes or he calls me mama.
Second, I know that all mama’s breastfeeding journies are different. Much like pregnancy, some enjoy it and some don’t. Some last longer then they hoped and some don’t last near as long as they wished. There are some mom’s that don’t choose to go the breastfeeding route and some who it just doesn’t work out for no matter how hard they try. Whatever your path is, always remember FED IS BEST!
Lastly, please believe in your heart that you are doing the best you can. Motherhood looks different for everyone. Just like life, our way of being a mom is our own and no one else’s. We set the boundaries to create the best life we possibly can for our families. Motherhood is a blessing and the hardest job you will ever have to do. Let’s all support each other on this incredible journey.
